Hospital de São Francisco Xavier Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental

The Hospital São Francisco Xavier is a General Hospital (inserted in Lisbon West Hospital Center), which provides integrated healthcare services to a population of about 934,723 inhabitants. The “Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos Polivalentes” (Intensive care unit) of the Hospital São Francisco Xavier, headded by Professor Pedro Póvoa, is a small unit with 8 beds in which the practices of antimicrobial resistant HAIs control and prevention are well established. This partnership will bring the expertise in antimicrobial resistant HAIs management to the project suited to the national context.



University Hospital of Northern Norway

The University Hospital of Northern Norway, located in Tromsø, Norway, is part of the Northern Norway Regional Health Authority. This hospital is the headquarters of Norway’s surveillance for antibiotic resistance both in Hospital and primary care. This partnership will serve as a benchmark, bringing the expertise in excellent antimicrobial resistant HAIs management to the project. Gunnar Skov Simonsen and Anne Mette Asfeldt, two researchers from the Department of Microbiology and Infection Control, University Hospital of North Norway, Tromsø, Norway, will contribute in three ways:
• to understand the use and the implementation challenges of AB Stewardship and the organization of a proper team to address it;
• to help in the design and implementation phases;
• to evaluate the final results and outcomes of the HAI Tool.

Not a formal institutional partner, The University Hospital of Geneva (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, HUG) will be a member of the project team.
